Leapmotor B05 in Hungary: 56.2 or 67.1 kWh, charging and a buyer's checklist

Confirmed fact: the Hungarian importer says the B05 has been available to order in Hungary since 11 June 2026 with two battery choices. Manufacturer claim: the 56.2 kWh version offers up to 401 km WLTP, the 67.1 kWh version up to 482 km, and peak DC charging reaches 174 kW. Editorial conclusion: the larger pack is not automatically the better purchase; daily distance, home charging and the final quoted price must be considered together.

What is confirmed about the Hungarian launch?

Emil Frey Group Hungary's 23 June 2026 release states that orders opened on 11 June and advertises a gross launch price of HUF 9,990,000 until 31 August 2026. Totalcar's 18 June road test independently reported the same starting price and the two battery versions. The price is time-sensitive, not a permanent list price, and finance, stock, colour or trim conditions may alter it. Compare only itemised, personalised dealer quotations.

The B05 is a new model normally sold with full manufacturer warranty. For a fault or software issue, the realistic first route is an authorised Leapmotor workshop and warranty assessment, not searching for used parts. Do not apply UK warranty terms automatically to a Hungarian car: the Hungarian warranty booklet supplied at handover governs.

56.2 or 67.1 kWh: which battery suits your use?

Leapmotor offers two LFP batteries. The 56.2 kWh Pro pack is rated at up to 401 km WLTP, while the 67.1 kWh ProMax reaches up to 482 km. The difference between the upper laboratory figures is 81 km. For urban commuting with regular home charging, the smaller pack may be sufficient; frequent motorway trips may make the larger energy reserve useful for fewer stops and more winter margin.

WLTP is not a route guarantee. Speed, cold, wind, rain, heating, passenger load and wheel size can reduce real range. Ask for the homologated consumption and range of the exact version, then plan your longest regular journey with a comfortable charging reserve.

What does a CTC battery mean in practice?

With Cell-to-Chassis, or CTC, the battery forms part of the vehicle structure. Leapmotor says this improves volumetric energy density by 13%, increases rigidity and releases more cabin space. These are manufacturer engineering claims. For an owner, the important consequence is that a serious underbody or battery-enclosure impact requires both body-repair and high-voltage expertise.

CTC does not prove that the battery cannot be repaired, but neither can it be treated like a conventional separate box. Before buying insurance, ask how high-voltage battery damage is assessed, where authorised structural repairs are carried out, how parts are supplied and how an underbody impact is documented.

174 kW and 17 minutes: how should you read the charging figure?

The European press material quotes up to 174 kW DC charging and roughly 17 minutes from 30 to 80%. These are manufacturer peak and time figures, not constant power. The exact curve depends on battery version, starting state of charge, battery temperature, preconditioning, charger and ambient conditions. The detailed UK sheet documents an 11 kW onboard AC charger for the 67.1 kWh version; have the equipment of the Hungarian car confirmed separately.

• Ask which maximum DC rate applies to each battery in the Hungarian specification.
• Check whether navigation can precondition the battery automatically.
• For home charging, calculate what a 1×32 A, 3×16 A or 3×32 A supply can safely provide.
• During the test drive, try charger search, route planning and charge scheduling.

Drivetrain, size and everyday usability

The B05's rear motor delivers 160 kW and 240 Nm, with a manufacturer 0–100 km/h time of 6.7 seconds. Its 4,430 mm length, 1,880 mm width and 2,735 mm wheelbase place it among compact five-door cars, while frameless doors and 19-inch wheels add specific ownership considerations. Try the width in a tight car park and assess ride quality and tyre sidewalls on rough roads.

The detailed UK specification lists 345 litres of boot space with the seats up and 1,400 litres folded. Do not choose from litres alone if you regularly carry a pushchair, pet crate or bulky object: take it to the test drive and inspect opening width, floor step and rear-seat space.

Safety and software: what is a fact and what remains a target?

Leapmotor lists seven airbags, 21 driver-assistance functions and 14 sensors/cameras. However, the April 2026 release says the model is targeting a five-star Euro NCAP rating, with official results expected by the end of 2026. Five stars must therefore not be presented as an achieved rating yet. At purchase, check the current Euro NCAP page and the assistance list for the exact trim.

Over-the-air updates are convenient, but they do not mean every problem can be fixed remotely. Ask about interface language, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto operation, app functions, future data fees and the manufacturer's promised software-support period.

Put these nine points in writing before ordering

• the exact Life or Design trim and Pro or ProMax battery;
• the final gross price, promotion conditions and expected delivery;
• the exact car's WLTP range and homologated consumption;
• AC and DC charging limits, supplied cable and preconditioning;
• full vehicle and battery warranty under Hungarian terms;
• the nearest authorised workshop and assistance/replacement-car rules;
• the current, actually awarded Euro NCAP result;
• Hungarian operation of the app, navigation and phone integration;
• the total cost of insurance, home charging and winter wheels.

In brief: an attractive entry price, but version and terms decide

On paper the Leapmotor B05 is a strong proposition: two LFP batteries, rear-wheel drive, a long wheelbase and competitive rapid-charging figures. A sound decision still requires separating confirmed Hungarian availability, manufacturer WLTP and charging claims, and a Euro NCAP target that has not yet been awarded. Compare more than the headline price; battery choice, warranty, charging and local service support together determine real value.
